After suffering their first loss in the past 25 games the Jeannette Jayhawks bounced back and looked like the Hawks of old with a 46-7 first round win over Valley at McKee Stadium on Friday night.
Senior running back Jordan Hall led the way with 4 rushing touchdowns scoring on runs of 2,3,5 and 44 yards all in the first half. Hall finished the game with 17 carries for 120 yards. After Valley cut the Jeannette lead to 14-7 midway through the second quarter on a 3 yard run by Tracy Durand, Hall scored his third TD on the 44 yard run on a 4th and 1 situation from the Valley 44.
Jeannette's running game which sputtered in the 28-14 loss to Greensburg Central just one week earlier amassed 322 yards on 45 carries. Mariell McGowan, Dane Vaughan and Darius Brown also scored for Jeannette. McGowan's TD came on a 12 yard pass from quarterback Cameron Baradziej.
Jeannette's defense was the real story of the game forcing 6 Valley turnovers, 5 of those turnovers were converted into touchdowns by the Hawks offense.
Jeannette will play Beaver in the second round Friday night at Fox Chapel. Beaver defeated Sto-Rox 43-36.
