Franklin Regional scored seven touchdowns on seven straight possessions to vanquish rival Plum, 48-7, on Thursday night.
Using a combination of team speed and offensive line power, Franklin used a balanced attack in the second quarter that led to six touchdowns. The attack included over 100 rushing yards for running back Josh Rager. Rager rushed for three of Franklin’s six first-half touchdowns. As a team, Franklin rushed for 246 yards in victory.
Franklin’s Jesse Samek also earned a touchdown for Franklin, a two-yard run in the second quarter. Franklin quarterback Anthony Vendemia threw for 120 yards and two touchdowns in the win. In the second quarter, Vendemia threw a 68-yard strike to wideout Josh Stanish, and a 30-yard pass to Chad Bowman for a tally mid-way through the third quarter. Franklin’s John Archangelo added the team’s final touchdown, a nine-yard run in the fourth quarter.
