The Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County has purchased the Sewickley Township sewer system.
The Tribune-Review reports that the township sewer authority serves more than 1,400 customers in the communities of Herminie and Hutchinson. The county paid out $1.75 million in cash and they will assume another $11.5 million in debt that was recently borrowed to build two treatment plants.
Sewer rates will remain frozen for customers for the next five years.
