A man who was part of a theft ring in Westmoreland County is due for a sentencing hearing today.
46-year-old John Phillip Kerr, Jr. of Elizabeth pleaded guilty last March to corrupt organizations, two conspiracy-related crimes, theft and receiving stolen property, and will be sentenced today in the courtroom of Judge Christopher Feliciani. He was one of three people who entered guilty pleas in connection with several thefts in 2016 from several businesses along I-70. Kerr, along with Shane Pierce of West Newton and David Way of Fayette City, stole commercial truck tires, tools and equipment from several businesses.
A fourth co-defendant, 35-year-old Jason Walters of Herminie, was sentenced to one year of probation on a plea of guilty to defiant trespass.
