A former Washington County man who was found guilty of killing his father in law five years ago on a back road in Donegal said he will represent himself as his appeal continues.
The Tribune-Review reports that 47-year-old Michael Martin told Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Christopher Feliciani that he was not happy with the court-appointed lawyer and will defend himself.
Martin was convicted of stabbing 67-year-old Earl Weygandt back in 2015. Martin contends that he acted in self-defense, but prosecutors said that he lured Weygandt to the secluded area.
A hearing is expected in December to consider the new appeal.
