The wedding is off for a man accused of killing a New Kensington police officer.
The Tribune Review reports that a marriage between Rahamel Holt, who is charged with the fatal shooting of Officer Brian Shaw in November of 2017, and Vanessa Portis, the woman police said drove him to various locations after the shooting as he tried to elude police, will not take place.
Prosecutors claimed that Holt was trying to marry Portis to prevent her from testifying against him. While Holt’s attorneys say they don’t want to turn the wedding “into a sideshow,” prosecutors say they don’t believe it.
