Latrobe city officials have authorized the purchase of a leaf vacuum and skid loader that are expected to be put into use next year.
The Tribune-Review reports that the money for the purchase will come from a $95,843 grant from the state Department of Environmental Protection. The vacuum will be able to pick up all leaves above ground, but it will not be able to reach leaves that have gone down into storm drains.
After collecting, they’ll use the skid loader to help compost the leaves. The compost will then be given back to residents at the Mission Road transfer station.
