Arraignment hearings are scheduled today for the man accused of killing 11 people at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Squirrel Hill.
Robert Bowers was indicted by a federal grand jury on 44 counts in connection with the shooting including 11 counts of obstruction of free exercise of religious beliefs resulting in death, along with related crimes. The indictment states that Bowers allegedly drove to the synagogue on October 27th and entered the building during a worship service, then used multiple firearms to kill 11 people and harm several others.
Bowers also allegedly indicated a desire to “kill Jews” while he was in the building.
