Two men were charged with crimes related to a break-in at a Trafford power substation that resulted in power being knocked out to many residents.
The Tribune-Review reports that the two men, Dylan Madden of Turtle Creek and Jay Zeigler of Wall, were charged by police with trespass, risking a catastrophe, theft of metals and other crimes connected with the attempted theft at the substation last June.
Westmoreland County Detectives had interviewed the two men at the burn unit of West Penn Hospital, and they were told that the men broke into the substation at Trafford Commerce Park to steal copper wire. Ziegler told detectives that he cut into a 23,000 volt Duquesne Light power line and that caused an explosion, knocking Ziegler out of his shoes.
The two have not been arraigned and no preliminary hearing date has been set.
