A native of West Newton has been honored for saving someone’s life during a school shooting in Texas.
The Tribune-Review reports that Brandon Walmsley, a state trooper in Texas who was born and raised in West Newton, was awarded the Lifesaving award by the Texas Highway Patrol for his work during a school shooting in January in which he and his partner came across 15-year-old Noelle Jones with life-threatening injuries. The two applied first aid until EMTs arrived.
