A former Greensburg man abandoned two children in a car when he tried to run away from police conducting a traffic stop.
Greensburg City Police say 31-year-old Patrick Davis of New Alexandria was arraigned on Monday on two counts of child endangerment along with single counts of flight to avoid apprehension, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest and other crimes. Police were trying to pull him over around 5:45 PM in the 600 block of Greenmont Street when he ran from the car. Police continued their pursuit on foot and subdued him in a yard on Fairmont Street.
Davis told police that he knew he had an outstanding warrant for attempted robbery and panicked. Davis was the suspect in the attempted theft of soft drinks from the Shop n Save on East Pittsburgh Street and when he got into a fight with loss prevention personnel, he dropped his cell phone.
Davis is now in Westmoreland County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
