The Westmoreland County Conservation District is starting their annual work of limiting the spread of mosquito-borne diseases. West Nile Virus technician Chrissy Edwards-McCune says she plans to get started on trapping and testing the bugs for various illnesses beginning today. The test results will help state officials pinpoint areas where spraying should be done to limit the mosquito population. West Nile Virus was found in a dozen adult mosquito samples collected in Westmoreland County last year. The trapping will continue into October.
