The police chief for the Hempfield Area School District is retiring. Len Lander has served more than a decade as the district’s chief resource officer after serving more than 20-years as a state police trooper. Lander says he is ready to retire and spend time with his family, with his retirement becoming effective on December 20th. Current district police officer and former Jeannette Police Chief Shannon Binda has been selected to take over as the district’s chief.
