The lawyer for an East Huntingdon man charged with attempted homicide claimed in court yesterday that the charges filed are nothing more than an attempt to cover up a botched investigation. The Trib reports that 62-year-old James Miller and his attorney, Jill Devine, rejected a prosecution plea deal that would have allowed him to plead guilty in exchange for a 15-to-20-year prison sentence. Miller is facing charges in connection with a January standoff and shootout with police at a home on Route 819 across from West Overton Village. Devine claims that police have no evidence in the case. His trial is set to begin January 6th.
