Officials in Unity say they will work on finding a solution to improve stream flow to reduce flooding in the village of Whitney.
The Tribune-Review reports that a tributary of Ninemile Run has flooded, and state regulations prevent the township officials from dredging the tributary that borders Leachman Road. Many citizens have said that the development of the Living Hope Church is to blame for the flooding, and church officials say they are offering to organize volunteers to help work on the stream.
Township officials are advising residents in the area to check with county officials and the Westmoreland Conservation District to see if they are eligible for flood relief programs.
