The owner of Greensburg’s Pershing Square Apartments now faces a criminal complaint after several residents were stranded in an elevator that repeatedly breaks down.
The Tribune-Review reports that the city Planning Department filed the complaint against building owner I Choose Not To Run, LLC, for violating property maintenance code concerning elevators. The rule states the owners must provide a certificate of inspection for the elevators or plan to replace them, something the owners have not done since they received a notice of a code violation on September 21st.
The 12-floor high-rise serves mostly elderly residents, and there have been complaints of one of the elevators being out of operation for 10 weeks, and the other broke down twice in the last month.
The owners now have 30 days to comply.
