Westmoreland County residents came together last night at the courthouse for a vigil that paid tribute to the victims of the Squirrel Hill Synagogue shooting.
The Tribune-Review reports that more than 400 people were in attendance for last night’s vigil hosted by Voice of Westmoreland. The vigil focused on finding healing after the tragedy at the Tree of Life Synagogue.
Robert Bowers, the suspected attacker, made his first appearance in federal court yesterday. A judge advised him that he was facing several federal charges including murder and assault, and he was taken to jail where he is being held without bond. U.S. Attorney Scott Brady said that his office must present his case to a federal grand jury in 30 days.
Bowers is accused of killing 11 people who were worshiping at the synagogue and shooting or injuring six others, including four police officers responding to the shooting.
