Governor Tom Wolf and U.S. Senator Bob Casey were re-elected to their respective positions.
Both of those races were essentially called by several news organizations right when the polls closed at 8:00 last night.
Some races that were watched very closely locally were the races for the new U.S. Congressional districts. Republican State Senator Guy Reschenthaler beat Unity native Bibiana Boerio for the newly-formed 14th district, while Republican John Joyce won the 13th district, which includes a small portion of the east side of Westmoreland County, beating St. Francis University professor Brett Ottaway.
For State House seats, winners included Republican Justin Walsh for the 58th state house district, Republican Mike Reese for the 59th district, Ryan Warner for the 52nd district, Eric Nelson in the 57th district, George Dunbar in the 56th district and former Murrysville Mayor Bob Brooks taking the 54th district.
In the 55th district, Joseph Petrarca was unopposed. And in the State Senate, Pat Stefano beat Pam Gerard in the 32nd State Senate district race.
