Murrysville officials are taking steps to try and reduce the amount of overtime their police forces are racking up.
The Tribune-Review reports that this year so far, the department has incurred about $400,000 worth of overtime. The 2019 proposed budget will have the police department pull the Franklin Regional School District resource officer and having them go back into the department’s patrol rotation. The cost was split evenly between the district and the department, but they believe the overtime reduction will make up the difference.
That proposed 2019 budget does not include a tax increase for Murrysville property owners.
