The State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources has awarded $500,000 in grant money for a portion of the Loyalhanna Trail.
The Tribune-Review reports that the money will be used to build a portion of the trail over a new sanitary sewer line in Derry and Salem Townships. The portion of the trail affected starts in New Alexandria and runs to Keystone State Park. Through this grant, other grants and matching funds, the trail will now be 100% funded.
Construction could begin next summer.
