The Irwin holiday parade is tonight, but there will be a new rule in place: No throwing candy from floats or fire trucks.
The Tribune-Review reports that the rule was put in place because of potential safety issues. The Irwin Business and Professional Association, organizers of the parade, say the rule is coming down as a request from its insurers, as they don’t want kids to run into the street after some candy and get hit by a parade vehicle.
Parade officials also say that the candy does leave a bit of a mess.
