The Westmoreland County Commissioners met on Thursday and approved a proposed budget that will carry no tax increase for county residents.
The Tribune-Review reports that the $372 million spending plan for next year will use most of the county’s surplus coming from an extra $11.3 million in the bank at the end of this year to balance an $8.7 million deficit. The proposed budget does not include an anticipated $7 million to buy new voting machines required by a state mandate for the 2020 election. That will most likely be funded through a bond issue and not included in the final budget.
The final budget is expected to be approved on December 20th.
