An army soldier from Westmoreland County has died in action overseas in Afghanistan.
WTAE-TV reports that Sgt. Jason Mitchell McClary of Export died five days after he was injured when an improvised explosive device went off in the Ghazni province. He is the second to die from western Pennsylvania from this incident, as Air Force Staff Sgt. Dylan Elchin of Butler County also died in that explosion.
Governor Tom Wolf has ordered commonwealth and US flags to fly at half-staff to honor Sgt. McClary. No word yet on when his body will be returned to the United States.
