
Police in Monessen are investigating a case of animal abuse where a dog was found decapitated near the railroad tracks in November.
The Tribune-Review reports that the dog, an Italian Mastiff or Cane Corso, was found in the area of the Herman Mihalich Memorial River Launch on Monongahela Street on November 19th. No one claimed the dog after it was taken to Hoffman Animal Control in Delmont.
The dog also did not have any ID tags or a chip implanted. There was also no evidence of the dog being hit by the train.
