Westmoreland County Commissioners have approved the county’s budget for the next year without raising taxes.
The Tribune-Review reports that the budget expenditures will top out at $348 million and keep the tax rate at 20.99 mills. It does have a $7.6 million spending deficit that will be covered by their surplus fund.
Commissioners were able to cut an additional $1.1 million in expenses and $800,000 in new revenues from the budget that was approved in November.
The county is expected to borrow about $20 million for several high-cost capital improvement projects, including the purchase of new voting machines.
