Some good news out of the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office: There has been a drop in overdose deaths over the last year.
The Tribune-Review reports that there has been a 36 percent drop in drug overdose deaths in 2018. As of late last week, 103 deaths from accidental drug overdose has been reported, and 21 other death cases are being investigated as overdose deaths. That’s a drop from 193 overdose deaths reported in 2017.
Officials are taking the drop as a sign that drug and overdose awareness efforts are working.
