A preliminary hearing is set for Wednesday for Brian McDowell, a Derry Township constable who is charged with fleecing nearly $4,000 from nine victims.
Police say McDowell took the money to take care of court matters for the victims. In some cases, police say, McDowell used phony court warrants.
McDowell is being charged with extortion, theft and official oppression.
