Boil water advisories are now in effect for county Municipal Authority customers in the areas of Port Vue and McKeesport.
The Tribune-Review reports that the advisory is because of a leak in a six-inch water line near Romine Avenue in Port Vue shortly after 9:30 on Tuesday morning. The leak caused pressure issues for more than 2000 customers in the area, and because of those pressure-related issues, there could be some contamination.
Once repairs are complete, the municipal authority will conduct quality testing to see if the water is OK to drink. Before then, people should either use bottled water or bring the water to a rolling boil for one minute and then let cool before using.
Water buffaloes are also set up at the Port Vue Borough Building and Port Vue Fire Deapartment.
