A Doctor from Westmoreland County was found guilty in West Virginia for illegally prescribing opioids to his patients.
KDKA-TV reports that 57-year-old Dr. Felix Brizuela, Jr. was convicted on 15 federal counts of distributing controlled substances outside of his professional medical practice. Prosecutors said Brizuela distributed oxycodone, fentanyl and oxymorphine between 2013 and 2015 in Monongalia County in West Virginia without what police called a “legitimate medical purpose.”
No word yet on when the sentencing will take place, but he faces 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines for each count.
