Governor Tom Wolf announced on Wednesday a plan that would double the minimum wage in Pennsylvania.
WTAE-TV reports the Governor’s plan would boost the minimum hourly pay to $12 an hour on July 1st, and 50-cent increases each year until the $15/hour rate is reached in 2025. Last time the minimum wage was increased was 10 years ago when it went up to $7.25 an hour. Wolf believes the plan has bipartisan support among some state lawmakers, but it is opposed by the leaders of the state House and Senate majority parties and several business groups.
