
Few details are available on what caused a tractor-trailer full of propane gas to explode on I-70 yesterday.
WTAE-TV reports that the truck was supposed to be carrying empty propane tanks, that according to police investigating the explosion near mile marker 50 just east of the Smithton exit. Tanks were scattered across the highway in the explosion and neighbors reported their houses rattling from the initial blast.
No injuries were reported. The blast caused a portion of I-70 to be closed for four hours. State Police continue to investigate. The highway is open this morning.
