A New Jersey woman has filed a lawsuit against a Westmoreland County cemetery, claiming she was pinned by a headstone weighing more than 750 pounds while visiting there last fall.
WTAE-TV reports that Carla Noce claimed she was decorating a family grave site at the St. Gertrude Memorial Cemetery and St. Gertrude Parish in Vandergrift last October when she stepped back and lightly touched another headstone that became dislodged and fell on her, pinning her right foot and leg. She said that initial emergency medical crews were unable to free her and the fire department had to be called in.
Noce claims she was pinned for 25 minutes and suffered broken and crushed bones in her right leg, ankle and foot and had damaged muscles, tendons, and deep flesh wounds among other injuries. She claimed the injuries required medical treatment.
