Mt. Pleasant Borough council earlier this week voted to fire their police chief.
The Tribune-Review reports that Chief Douglas Sam was released from his duty as police chief on Monday after council voted 6-3 to fire him. Sam was hired as the chief of police in March of 2005. Council members declined to comment on why Sam was fired, as that was discussed in executive session.
Second in command, Captain George Grippo takes over as the officer in charge until council decides to either hire an interim chief or begin the process of hiring a permanent replacement.
