State troopers are warning people of a scam that has affected someone in the Hempfield Township Area.
Police say that the victim sold items online, and the scammer would send a check well over the desired amount, asking the victim to send them the difference back via MoneyGram or Western Union.
Police remind people to be cautious, as those checks could either be fraudulent or checks that have been stolen from a business. Legitimate businesses would never ask you to do something like that.
