While Latrobe City Council approved a five-year contract with a garbage hauler, council turned down the company’s proposal to haul garbage in large roll-off bins from the city’s transfer station to the local landfill.
The Tribune-Review reports that Republic Services proposed charging $200 a load, which equals out to roughly $800 a day for the extra service. Council’s main reason for rejecting the proposal is that it will save some money overall for the borough to use their own employees and trucks for hauling the garbage in the roll-off bins.
