A Westmoreland County Prison worker could face some disciplinary action after the premature release of an inmate last week.
The Tribune-Review reports that 25-year-old Jesse V. Lawson of New Alexandria was sentenced on drug charges to six to 23 months in jail. He was also facing charges in Allegheny County, but because of a clerical slip, it was omitted that Lawson was to be returned to Westmoreland County Prison, and he was ordered released in Allegheny County.
Lawson was apprehended Monday and appeared before Judge Christopher Felicinai, who ordered him detained to finish his sentence.
Sheriff Jonathan Held, who serves as the chairman of the county prison board, said the county’s human resource office is investigating and will recommend any discipline and retraining.
