Many people in Westmoreland County remain without power as of this morning, but there is some good news from the Westmoreland County Department of Public Services.
On their Facebook page, the department is saying that they have been in contact with power suppliers and they are hoping that the majority of homes without power will have power restored by 1:30 PM today. Right now, West Penn Power is reporting that 7,519 of their customers remain without power at this hour.
The Department of public services remind people to not operate generators, camp stoves or charcoal grills indoors, disconnect or turn off appliances as when the power comes back on, there could be surges that damage the electronics, check on your neighbors to make sure they’re OK, and if it gets really cold, head to a warming shelter.
