A Hempfield woman facing charges of child pornography says she wants to be released from prison while she awaits trial.
The Tribune-Review reports that 29-year-old Amanda Smith is currently in jail awaiting a trial on charges of distributing photographs of sex acts and possession of child pornography in connection with her arrest last August. Police said she shared a video of a woman having sex with a five-year-old boy.
Smith’s trial is set for April, but court documents filed yesterday by Smith’s attorney said that she should be released from jail as it has been 180 days since she was taken into custody.
A hearing has been set for March 8th to see if Smith can be released to live in a private home in Hempfield while she awaits her trial.
