A convention of Westmoreland County’s 18 second-class townships will be held soon.
The annual meeting of the townships will be held on May 8th at the Stratigos Banquet Centre. The Tribune-Review reports that representatives from the 18 townships will have a Q and A session with local state lawmakers and township solicitors as well as get information from vendors.
The convention will allow the reps to network with other townships. One topic that is expected to be brought up for discussion will be the per capita tax that Governor Tom Wolf wants to institute on municipalities that use the State Police for law enforcement. The group is not expected to make any formal statement on position on this or any other issue during the convention.
