Four of the five Republican Commissioners candidates have signed a pledge saying they would not take any donations from vendors awarded contracts for county work without any formalized competition.
The Tribune-Review reports that candidates Doug Chew, John Venture, Heather Cordial and Paul Kosko have signed the pledge. Venture also stated that he would not take money from companies outside of the county.
The issue of no-bid contracts was highlighted by a move by County Commissioners Gina Cerilli and Charles Anderson to hire an insurance company to oversee worker’s comp claims for the county, and Charles Volpe, the insurance company president, had donated $18,000 to Cerilli’s campaign.
