A New Florence man pleaded guilty and was sentenced yesterday in court to charges related to a fire that he set in an apartment January of 2018.
The Tribune-Review reports that 21-year-old William Teeter pleaded guilty to one count of risking a catastrophe in connection with the fire at St. Clair Manor. The fire was set during a domestic dispute between Teeter and another woman. After hitting her with a cell phone, Teeter ran upstairs and set her sweatpants on fire, leaving them to smolder on her bed. Five people also lived in the apartment complex, but they were not hurt.
Teeter will serve three months house arrest, two years on probation, and must complete emotions management counseling and drug and alcohol treatment if needed.
