Opening statements are expected today for a Latrobe man charged with second-degree murder in the death of a man that was trying to stop a robbery.
The Tribune-Review reports that the jury was seated on Monday for the trial of Colin Gearhart of Latrobe, who is one of three men charged with the death of Daniel McNerny. Prosecutors say that he along with Zachary McGrath and Austin Krinock had plotted a robbery against a Pittsburgh drug dealer. McNerny tried to interfere and stop the robbery, but was killed in the process.
McGrath was convicted of second-degree murder and faces a sentence of life in prison. Krinock was also convicted of second-degree murder, but as he was a juvenile, he was sentenced to serve 34 years in prison.
