This Sunday at the Blessed Sacrament Cathedral will be a service celebrating the beatification of a blessed mother with Westmoreland County connections.
At 11:30 on Sunday will be the beatification service for Blessed Mother Clelia Merloni, who founded the Apostles of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in 1984, and the women’s congregation established itself in the county. Sisters currently serve in the Clelian Heights School for Exceptional Children in Hempfield, Blessed Sacrament Cathedral in Greensburg, Greensburg Central Catholic and Mother of Sorrows Catholic School in Murrysville.
The beatification is one step towards canonization as a saint in the Catholic church.
