Westmoreland County Commissioners have decided not to give a new contract to a private insurance company to oversee the county’s worker’s compensation.
The Tribune-Review reports that Commissioners on Thursday chose not to renew the contract with the Housing and Redevelopment Insurance Exchange. This means the county will become its own insurer to handle claims from employees on the job.
The private insurers settled 23 old cases and two additional claims in the last two year.
