Four dilapidated homes and four former commercial buildings will be the first to be torn down using money from the newly created blight demolition fund.
The Tribune-Review reports that buildings in Avonmore, Derry Township, Jeannette, Monessen, New Stanton, Youngwood, Rostraver and South Greensburg are targeted for demolition using funds allocated by county commissioners. More than $200,000 will be used to raze the buildings, and that money will be paid to the county Redevelopment Authority, who will oversee and pay for the demolitions that will take place over the next year.
