
A Unity man who was ordered to serve up to eight years in prison for the alleged rape of a teenage girl had the verdict overturned.
The Tribune-Review reports that a Westmoreland County jury found 34-year-old Bruce Palmer guilty of rape, statutory sexual assault, and other related crimes, but on Friday, Common Pleas Judge Tim Krieger issued a nine-page opinion saying that Palmer should get a new trial because testimony from his accuser was contradicted by other evidence and her repeated emotional outbursts seen by jurors may have been “contrived.”
District Attorney John Peck is looking at the case to see if Parker will be retried or if the judge’s ruling should be appealed.
