A Laurel Mountain man charged with beating his live-in girlfriend to death nearly five years ago is competent enough to stand trial.
The Tribune-Review reports that Judge Meghan Billik Defazio declared that 62-year-old Gregory R. Randall was mentally fit to assist in his defense. He is accused of beating Angela Cavalero to death in May of 2014 with a wine bottle and a hammer. Her body was discovered six days later.
His case was delayed over pretrial issues and a competency hearing.
