A Penn Township man threatened to shoot up a library over some overdue book fines.
Police in Greensburg have charged 65-year-old Boyd Klingensmith with making terroristic threats and possession of a firearm without a license after the incident on April 18th at the Greensburg-Hempfield area library. He had tried to use the computers, but his access was denied due to overdue fines at the Penn Library in Harrison City. Several staffers then heard him say “I hate Penn Library. I’ll just have to go shoot them.” Klingensmith said that the statement was made in a joking manner, and suspicion was raised when police found a handgun in the car.
Klingensmith was ordered held in Westmoreland County Prison after failing to post $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for May 2nd.
