A former Bible study teacher from Unity Township was sentenced on Monday in Westmoreland County Court to serve jail time for charges of attempted aggravated indecent assault, unlawful contact with a minor and illegal use of a communications device.
The Tribune-Review reports that 34-year-old Timothy Myers pleaded guilty in January for those charges connected with an incident in 2017. State Attorney General’s office investigators said that Myers used a smartphone app to arrange a sexual meet up with someone he thought was a 14-year-old boy, but it was in reality it was an agent with the AG’s office. He was arrested as he arrived at a Hempfield hotel for the meetup.
Myers will serve two years in prison.
