A Sewickley man has turned down a plea bargain for charges of rape.
The Tribune-Review reports that on Tuesday, 74-year-old Wayne Smith said that he would not plead guilty and asked that his case become a non-jury trial in a courtroom closed to the public. Judge Christopher Feliciani denied both requests and set Smith’s trial to start in July.
Smith faces multiple counts of rape and other offenses in connection with incidents last year where he allegedly forced two women to have sex with him at his home near Herminine. One of the victims is a mentally disabled woman.
